December-March

  • Grades, Grades, Grades!
  • Research careers, colleges and financial aid on various websites
  • Talk to your parents about colleges and financial plans
  • Begin thinking about essays required and recommendation letter 
March-April
  • Attend Post High School Planning Night
  • Registration for classes for senior year
  • Check of graduation credits and requirements

April

  • Attend college nights at various malls
  • Use college reference materials available on the internet, school and library

May

  • Advanced placement and IB students take the May SAT

 

June

  • Juniors take the SAT
  • Advanced placement and IB students take the June SAT II required by selective colleges

July-August

  • Family visits to colleges for information and tours

Testing Information

SAT: test are given generally in September, October, November, December, January, March, April, and May
 
ACT: Test are given generally in September, October, December, February, April, and June

How much do the tests cost?

For the SAT I: $45.00

For the SAT II: $20.00 plus each individual test

For the ACT: $31.00

For the ACT Plus Writing: $46.00

 

There are several ways to prepare for these tests. Kaplan and Monroe Community College offer prep classes for a fee.  The Rochester EOC Center offers prep classes for free.  Contact them at #232-2730, ext.273.  Contact your school counselor for more information.
